St. John's got walloped on its own floor tonight, losing to Maryland 92-60 in the Coaches vs. Cancer Classic semifinals at Madison Square Garden.
Even the final score doesn't tell the story of how one-sided this game was: at halftime, the Red Storm trailed 58-21. Ekene Ibekwe, the Terps' senior forward, actually outscored the entire St. John's team with his 22 first-half points.
Maryland looked solid the entire game. Four of its five starters finished with double-digits, and the team won the battle of the boards, 45-31.
The Terps, now 4-0, will play next in the CVC finals against the winner of Michigan State vs. Texas (19 AP/18 ESPN), which is being played now at the Garden.
Update (11:33 p.m.): MSU just upset Texas to advance to the finals.
