Drexel stuns 'Nova at home

Despite shooting well from the field at a clip of 54 percent, Villanova could not stop the Drexel offense, especially down the stretch. 'Nova also gave up 25 free throws to Drexel, which sank 22 of them.
This is a bad loss for Villanova, who just three days ago was riding high after beating Oklahoma on the road. As a loss at home to a lowly-regarded Colonial Athletic Conference team, the defeat tonight at the hands of Drexel can only be seen as a huge setback to our NCAA hopes.
Forget being ranked any time in 2006. It's going to be an uphill battle from this point on to regain any semblance of national swagger. If we wind up on the NCAA bubble come March, this loss could come back to haunt us. Hopefully, it will not be an issue, though, if we get back on track.

Will we ever be program where we don't have to worry about losing games like this at home. Absolutely ridiculous that we don't have a home court where home wins against low level competition are a given. Jay you're back to being bubble boy. This really really sucks

Any idea why Pena was again wearing street clothes, while Ott dressed??
I know that both are redshirting, but why would only Ott dress for the game? I am sure you have more inside info on this subject than most of your readers. I look forward to an article on it.
Word is that Pena is sitting out with a knee injury, but there has not been an official announcement.
They gamble too much on defense and give well coached opponents wide open shots. Jay Wright is currently playing eight players. Come the Big East season he will cut that down to 6 or 7. Look for a couple to consider transfering out. For a team that prides itself on hustle they are also gettng beat up and down the court.
Losses to the drexels of the world mean nit come march - well at least I don't have to worry about flight and hotel reservations this year - I am absolutely disgusted right now and have been since saturday night.
Things will likely get better as the team continues to build chemistry together. I wouldn't write off the NCAAs just yet. We still have a lot of talent and the real season begins in 2007.
The team is young. Losses like this are going to happen. But the staff has assembled the talent. The senior leadership is in place. The sophomores are making strides. The hard work (getting the defense into shape) will yield benefits in February and March.
