Eighth-seeded Villanova takes on #9 Syracuse in the opening game of the Big East Tournament, Wednesday at noon in Madison Square Garden.

The game will air live nationwide on ESPN.

I will be traveling to New York for the game, so the site won't be updated until the next day, probably in the afternoon.

Feel free to use this thread to comment before, during, and after the game. My usual review with player grades should be up on Thursday.

Even with the very slight shrinking of the bubble earlier this week, I still feel that the winner of the Villanova-Syracuse game will be invited to the NCAA tournament.

If you agree or disagree, make your case in the comments.

I think Fisher explodes for 20 and we win by 8

I'm not buying the hype that this is a play-in game... this feels more like a play-OUT game. Loser goes to the NIT, with no chance for the big dance. Winner still has work to do. Too many upsets in the mid-major conference tourneys... 20 wins may not be enough for the NCAAs this year.

I think Scottie goes bananas with 30 points and Villanova wins in a close 78-75 game.

This is NOT a "win and in" game...the only way we get in is if we beat GT. Stop the liberal lies!!!!!!!!!!!

I think both teams have made good cases to get into the tournament, but I agree with a previous comment: this is definitely a play-out game. Neither Syracuse nor Nova can expect an invite should they lose.

Problem with Nova is the non-conference schedule... no big wins to speak of.

All I've heard this week is Syracuse, Syracuse, Syracuse. Let's go Nova!! I agree that the talented Scottie Reynods, with big game experience will explode. While the frosh of Syracuse will force shots.

I think we've got this!

What a great win!! Scottie's fade-away 3 was my favorite moment. BTW, am I mistaken, or did we play significant minutes without a point guard on the floor?

Wow!! Nova just made my week and we are so blessed to have Scottie on this team!! I'm sorry critics, but.... I think we're DANCING!!!!

A 19 point win, combined with beating NCAA tourney bound teams such as Pitt, West Virginia, Uconn, and George Mason. We beat a tourney bound George Mason team in a non-conference game, that's a nice non-conference win. We didn't lose many of those games. I think we're in great shape.

Dance baby, DANCE!!!
