'Nova falls to Kansas

This is old news by now, but Villanova lost by 15 to Kansas in the Sweet 16.

This brings to an end what has to be considered a successful season for the Wildcats, especially considering their mid-season struggles. I think any Villanova fan would have taken a Sweet 16 run at the start of this season, and if you told me in early February the 'Cats would make the second weekend, I'd have been thrilled.

This site will continue to post news and opinions on Villanova basketball through the offseason and into next year.

I didn't think they deserved a Tournament seed. I was thrilled when they received one, and never would have expected they'd go as far as they did. Clemson was a big upset, but they were lucky to draw Siena in the 2nd round.

Coming into this season, I felt like we might be a borderline Tourney team based on talent alone, and that's exactly what they were. It was nice to see them mature towards the end of the season, and they're only going to be more cohesive next year. I'm thinking Tyreke won't be sporting a Wildcat uniform, so the team should be exactly the same, which should be to our benefit. Hopefully the Drum can come back healhty. There's no excuse for missing the Tournament next year, and I predict nothing less than advancement to the Elite 8 (if we're healthy). I know this season isn't over yet, but next season can't come soon enough. It's gunna be a long 6 months!!!

Our performance in the Kansas game definitely tempers the good feelings of the sweet 16 overachievement. Our effort was pathetic, we looked like we lost the game before it started. We pride ourselves on being a tough team with a big heart, but we rolled over and died in that game. We were playing with house money, we needed to come out with guns blazing and give them everything we had, but we fell completely flat. Sometimes that just happens, but usually i would think only in the middle of the season. You only get so many sweet 16 chances, and we blew one there. Even if we played our best, there is a good chance that Kansas still would have won, but at least it would have been an honorable defeat and we could have said we gave it our best shot and made the most of our opportunity.

He is from CA, so I see him going somewhere closer to home

well, he's choosing between Nova and Gonzaga (the 2 schools he turned down in picking Duke). So by that logic, Gonzaga it is

What is this Taylor King biz? The recruiting sites all say he signed a LOI to Duke.

The comment section of lets go nova has the most retarded rumors and the most ridiculous game of telephone I have ever seen.

I heard he got hit by a car and messed up his knee the summer before he got to Duke. Jay loves players with bad knees

d winger, how can you even call yourself a fan and refer to them as "we". WE gave it our all and had a great season, just be proud.

I pretty much agree with D Winger, the fact that we lost is one thing but it was disappointing to have been blown out. It really looked like we were playing scared.

All in all still a great season. The team clearly gel'd and improved significantly, and it lays the groundwork for an even better season next year.

To anonymous that criticized my comment: You obviously believe in the George Bush method of citizenry - never question anything, everything we do is always good. You ask how I can call myself a Nova fan -- How can you call yourself a fan if you say we "gave it our all" in the Kansas game? You are delusional. Do you think Jay Wright was happy with our effort -- NO!!! You obviously don't know much about basketball. WE had a great season, showed a ton of heart to turn it around, we overachieved, but that was a VERY dissappointing way to go out. Maybe if you keep thinking those warm thoughts of yours about puppy dogs, ice cream cones, and unicorns then we will do better next year.
