Links and loose ends found across the Web and on campus.

Villanova managed to finish the 2007-2008 season with a #24 ranking on the ESPN/USA Today coaches' poll. This has to be considered a success for Coach Wright and his players, who grinded through a five-game losing streak en route to making the Sweet Sixteen for the third time in four years.

With the beautiful weather across the Philadelphia region, students were out in full force enjoying the sun the past two days at Villanova. Reports from West Campus indicate that several Villanova basketball players played a pickup game Thursday with some of their classmates. Apparently spotted at the game were Coach Wright and what looked like 2009 recruit Dominic Cheek.  The Duke transfer Taylor King was also seen touring the campus with Wright on Friday. Here is hoping the weather does nothing but sway these players to come to 'Nova.

Scottie Reynolds and Dante Cunningham will be honored by the Big Five at a dinner reception celebrating their selection to the 2008 All-Big Five teams. Reynolds made the first team and Cunningham was chosen for the second team.

Finally, nothing new to report on Malcolm Grant, who is still weighing transfer options.

I heard that Ebanks is visiting Nova could this possibly mean that maybe just maybe Tyreke is like "hey man, I really think I will go to Nova come with me to nova." Because I heard they thought about going to the same school.

Ebanks has set up 4 official visits, and I don't think any are to Nova. It has him going to Memphis last, which is said to put Memphis at the safe bet for both him and Evans.

I really hope we somehow nab Evans though.

so because ebanks is visiting memphis last, that means tyreke is going to memphis. How does that make sense?

it means they are probably the favorite for ebanks... they are already the favorite for evans.

If we got Reke and Ebanks we'd be a final four team.

The point was made that Evans and Ebanks influence each other on positioning of college choice. Ebanks scheduling Memphis last puts them as the favorite, and NO visits to Nova.

It's not a hard point to catch.

If I had a choice between Ebanks and Evans, I would choose Ebanks. I think we need more help in the front court than the back court.

Cheek 'ain't no slouch either....

Possibilities have definitely improved on the recruiting front. By my count we have three scholarships to offer, Grant, Ott, and one other. hopefully we get to use them all.

Hey Taylor King; "go back to switzerland". we dont need any short white boys on our team. we need a 6'11" big man in the post so we dont get alley oop'd on OFF THE GLASS!!!

even if this evans ebanks business is true we could still be really good if we get king or cheek. we just need someone else to complete our lineup

EBANKS IS NOT VISITING NOVA!

IT WAS A FALSE RUMOR

Wow, how is nova not in the preseason top 25 poll? They made the sweet 16 and all of their players are returning. (With the exception of Grant) Andy Katz is basically saying that their talent level will decrease or he is a complete idiot. This poll is on espn.com.

VILLANOVA
Star of the class: Corey Fisher. After a dynamic ending to his high school career at New Jersey and national powerhouse St. Patrick, Fisher stepped into the Big East program and started 21 games this season. He didn't rack up big assist numbers, just 2.7 per game, which was surprising. Fisher did average 9.1 points a game.
Steal of the class: Malcolm Grant. Sure, his numbers and production weren't mind-blowing but he had a number of big games this season. The New Yorker was a perfect fit in Villanova's guard-oriented offense.
In hindsight: Corey Stokes, the McDonald's All-American of the class, started the season slowly and didn't give the Wildcats much off the bench. Through the first 19 games of the season, he averaged a rather ho-hum 3.4 points a game. He seemed to find his groove after Feb. 1. Stokes averaged 9.9 points a game in that stretch and scored a career-high 20 points in the NCAA tournament against Siena.

Rivals

well that rivals thing is real dumb, stokes i would say definitely had a better season than fisher (at least a better second half of the season) and do they not realize that grant is leaving?
