Big East opponents set

The Big East released the slate of conference opponents for each men's basketball team today. Dates are not set yet, but Villanova will play 18 conference games in 2008-2009, nine away and nine at home.

Villanova will face 13 conference teams once and three teams twice, once each home and away. The Wildcats will take on Marquette, Providence, and Syracuse in the home-and-away series next year.

Villanova's home games are Cincinnati, Georgetown, Louisville, Marquette, Pittsburgh, Providence, Rutgers, St. John's and Syracuse.

The Wildcats face away games at Connecticut, DePaul, Marquette, Notre Dame, Providence, Seton Hall, South Florida, Syracuse, and West Virginia.

Dates and locations remain to be scheduled, but it seems safe to assume that a few of Villanova's Big East home games will be slated for the Wachovia Center. The Louisville and Georgetown games might be good candidates for the Wachovia games.

According to the press release on Villanova.com, "the complete Villanova schedule, with dates, sites, and non-conference opponent information will be released in September."

Our long wait is over.

Villanova has posted the full 2007-2008 men's basketball schedule.

There are no surprises on the schedule; most die-hard fans had already accurately worked out exactly which teams the Wildcats would face this year. Still, it's nice to see it all in one place, neatly formatted on the official Web site.

I'll be analyzing the schedule and posting my thoughts in the coming weeks, but for now, enjoy a nice write-up by the Villanova basketball PR staff.

Big East schedule released

The 2007-2008 Big East Conference basketball schedule was released yesterday. A PDF copy is available from the Big East Web site.

This, of course, means that the bulk of Villanova's schedule is now in place for the upcoming year.

Villanova also has the good fortune of playing on national television at least 10 times next season.

Villanova will face LSU in the Big East-SEC challenge on Dec. 6 at the Wachovia Center,

The Wildcats open conference play on January 3 at DePaul.
