Aside from Villanova, five other Big East teams took the floor Friday night.

  • Pittsburgh 78
    Northeastern 52

Pitt (4 AP/5 ESPN) easily handled the winless Northeastern Huskies. Panthers center Aaron Gray had a monster night with 24 points and 14 boards.

  • Connecticut 88
    Central Arkansas 59

UConn (21/19) beat up on Central Arkansas, winning easily with a balanced scoring attack.

  • Texas 77
    St. John's 76

After losing last night to Coaches vs. Cancer runner-up Michigan State, Texas (19/18) barely eked out a win in the consolation against St. John's, which itself lost yesterday by 32 to eventual CvC champion Maryland. Freshman center Kevin Durant had 29 points and 10 rebounds for the Longhorns.

  • South Florida 82
    South Carolina State 69

The South Florida Bulls are now 2-0 after defeating the SC St. Bulldogs in the battle of the bull.

  • DePaul 71
    Eastern Illinois 41

The Blue Demons picked up their first win on the season, blowing out Eastern Illinois by 30.

After last night's games, the Big East Conference is 29-6 for the season.
