Casiem Drummond will undergo surgery on Tuesday for a fractured right ankle, Villanova University announced in a press release.

Drummond fractured his right ankle in Villanova's win against Siena in the second round of the NCAA tournament on Sunday. According to Villanova, the new injury is not related to the stress fracture in the same ankle that Drummond was diagnosed with in December.

Drummond started at center for the Wildcats for several games this season until the stress fracture caused him to miss more than ten games.

Drummond will miss Friday's game against top-seeded Kansas, and any further action this season as he recovers from his latest injury.

Dudes, this big man situation is getting potentially serious. We have the guards in place to be NASTY for several years to come (including top guard recruit Malik Wayns). But after next year when Cunningham, Clark, and Anderson leave, we have only Pena and Drummond left on the inside! This would not be so bad if we had some people in the pipeline, but there are no serious big man candidates for '08 and only a couple for '09 that also have like 7 or 8 other schools on their list. It seems like Drummond is always going to be hurt -- We cannot be good with only one 6-8 big man (who also had to redshirt freshman year with an injury)...We could always implement the 5 guard offense.

We have never had a healthy big man. Drums just needs the summer off, get healthy. His body was probably a little worn down from all the work he did to lose weight. He will be OK next year. We just need another serviceable big man...it will happen eventually. The program is moving forward I think. Reynolds getting drafted this year will put 4 guards that have gone on to play in the NBA in the last 3 years...great players are going to want to come to Villanova.

You think Reynolds will go the NBA this year? I think it'd be a mistake for him, why leave now and MAYBE get picked up by a team for a minimal contract, when he could come back next year and have the superstar season everyone expected him to have this year. Then he'd get drafted a lot higher and pull down a larger salary.

yeah, ja's right. scottie leaving this year would be a really stupid mistake, and i dont think he'll do that. I feel real bad for cas though, he wasted an entire season barely being able to play.
