Taylor King to visit 'Nova

Taylor King, the 6'7" transferring forward from Duke University, will reportedly visit with Villanova and coach Jay Wright this weekend.

King played in every game in his freshman year, and was a McDonald's All-American at Mater Dei Highschool in Southern California. King was originally offered a scholarship from Villanova before committing to Duke. The other schools he is considering transferring to include USC, UCLA, and Gonzaga.

King saw time in every game last season for the Blue Devils, averaging 5 points and 2 rebounds. One of his strongest abilities is his ability to make shots from the perimeter. King shot an impressive 40 percent from three last season.

If King did choose to come to Villanova, he would have to sit out a year. However, we do have a scholarship for him (Malcolm Grant), and I think he would be an excellent fit for this program. Taylor King could very well be a nice gift that falls in Jay Wright's lap, if things go well this weekend.

Villanova was actually 24th. This is around where I expected them to finish at the beginning of the season. Despite a terrible midseason, they played very well in the last 10 games. Next year they should be preseason top 10.

Technically Malcolm has not decided to transfer just yet (I realize the odds strongly favor him leaving though...too bad), but there was one available for 2008 at the beginning of the season, and Andy Ott transferred in January. That makes two currently available. Should Malcolm decide to leave Villanova (don't do it Malcolm!), the 'Cats would have 3 scholarships available this summer.

I saw Dominic Cheek on campus today driving around in a golf cart with Jay Wright....He is a tremendous recruit, and it would be a great move by Jay Wright if he could lure him in....He is the 12th best player in the Class of 2009 according to Rivals.com....I've seen this kid play at St. Anthony's and he is going to be a flat out star....Thoughts??
