Isaiah Armwood, a 6-7 forward from Baltimore, committed to Villanova on Tuesday to join the incoming class of 2009-2010.

Armwood, point guard Maalik Wayns, and Duke transfer Taylor King will debut for the Wildcats the season after next.

Armwood selected Villanova over Syracuse and Texas, according to Adam Zagoria of Zagsblog.

Armwood's commitment gives Villanova a high-profile big man recruit after a flurry of talented guards that included Corey Fisher, Corey Stokes, outgoing transfer Malcolm Grant, and Wayns. Armwood is ranked in the top 20 in his position, and the top 50 of his class by several recruiting scout services.

Huge commitment for Nova. Two big pickups already for 2009. Now we can focus on Terrell Vinson and Dominic Cheek. But Armwood has the size to play PF for us, and could be a great guy to pair with Antonio Peña.

I'm liking some of the pieces that are coming together. Lets hope King, Sutton, and Armwood can learn to be physical players in the paint. Thats the key for this team to go any further. We have some time to wait for that to happen though, being that Sutton is most likely going to red shirt. Either way, I feel confident about this coming season, we need big play from all of our forwards not to mention Cas needs to be healthy. The big east is going to be another slugfest this year.
