With everyone back except the transferred Malcolm Grant, the Villanova Wildcats look primed to make a run at the top 25 this season.

In this week's edition of the Let's Go Nova Friday poll, we ask just how far Villanova will advance in the 2008-2009 postseason.

You may vote in the Flash poll below, or in the right sidebar on any Let's Go Nova page.

Last week's poll asked about your favorite player on the team for the upcoming season. After 184 votes, Scottie Reynolds emerged the winner by the narrowest of margins, edging Dante Cunningham by a tally of 38 to 37. Sharpshooter Corey Stokes was third with 30 votes.

As always, you may comment on the poll in this thread, and check back next Friday for the results and a new question.

My optimism is tempered by the fact that most of the stronger teams in the Big East return most of their key players. Villanova could be much better without it showing up much in their record. I could easily see them ending up with, say, as 6, 7 or 8 seed in the tournament. If so, it would be possible, but unlikely, for them to get further than they did last year in the tournament.

I think Drummond's health and development is the x-factor here. Assuming normal development patterns for the rest of the team, if Drummond is healthy and brings his game up another notch, I think 12-4 in the BE, a fairly high seed, and an elite 8 or even final 4 position is in reach.

Otherwise, a slightly better record, a slightly higher seed, but maybe even a step (round) backwards in the Tournament.

Even if they get a higher seed, they will be so prepared coming out of the Big East that they will still advance just as far. Remember that they played like a 5-6 seed for the entire season with the exception of the horrific 5 game meltdown in the middle of the season.

The difference between this year and last year is that they will be able to compete with anybody in the country, whereas last year they were clearly overmatched by Kansas, Louisville, etc.
